ORTHOPAEDIC
Orthopaedic is a branch of medicine dealing with the treatment of deformities, diseases, and injuries of the bones, joints, and muscles. Orthopedic physiotherapists identify, treat and manage disorder/injuries of the musculoskeletal system.
This includes rehabilitation after an orthopedic surgery. The physiotherapist is trained in the rehabilitative treatment of post-operative orthopaedic procedures, fractures, acute sports injuries, arthritis, sprains, strains, back and neck pain, and spinal conditions.
A common cause for musculoskeletal pain is ‘wear and tear’ effects from daily activities, trauma, repetitive movements, overuse and prolonged immobilisation.
The following are conditions of musculoskeletal injuries that we treat :
- Low back pain.
- Disc diseases relieving muscles spasm and increasing blood flow.
- Shoulder impingement syndrome.
- Neck pain.
- Ligament tears.Sport related injuries.
- Tendinitis.
- Bursitis.
- Strain and sprains.
- Joint arthritis.
- Muscle weakness.
